Garinger High School, Charlotte North Carolina

Scholarship Programs

Each year the Garinger Education Foundation (GEF) works to fulfill our primary mission by offering Garinger High School (GHS) graduates multiple 4-year scholarships to pursue post-secondary education at 2-year and 4-year colleges/universities, Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), and other accredited schools.  In partnership with the Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), GEF also offers a joint scholarship program for GHS graduates attending CPCC.

Garinger Education Foundation Wildcat Scholarships

The Garinger Education Foundation offers Wildcat scholarships of $1000/year for up to 4 years for a total of $4000 per recipient. GHS students apply directly to GEF and scholarships are awarded based on the strength of the candidate’s application. These scholarships can be used at any 2- or 4-year college or university. GEF Scholars renew their Wildcat scholarships for 3 years after award based on meeting academic achievement criteria.

Garinger Education Foundation Named Scholarships

The Garinger Education Foundation provides the opportunity to honor or memorialize someone with a scholarship named for them. Based on academic achievement criteria, GEF Scholars can renew these scholarships for 3 years after the initial award year. Currently, GEF has 6 named scholarships and 3 that are established and ready for a sponsor.

You can direct your donations to one of these scholarships. If you are interested in creating a named scholarship or naming and funding a 49er/Wildcat scholarship, please contact us at

Garinger Education Foundation/Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Joint Scholarship Program

In partnership with CPCC, GEF offers a joint scholarship program for GHS graduates. Any student who graduates from GHS and attends CPCC is eligible to receive this scholarship if they meet the requirements.  GHS graduates who 1) have completed a minimum of 6 hours at CPCC, 2) are registered for a minimum of 6 hours for the next semester, and 3) have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 automatically qualify for $250/semester from GEF. If their cumulative GPA is 2.5 or higher, the CPCC Foundation matches the GEF contribution for another $250/semester.  This collaborative GEF/CPCC program starts many GHS graduates down the path to an affordable, excellent college education.
