Garinger High School, Charlotte North Carolina

Each year the Garinger Education Foundation (GEF) works to fulfill our primary mission by offering Garinger High School (GHS) graduates multiple scholarships to pursue post-secondary education at 2-year and 4-year colleges/universities and other accredited schools. Our programs are structured to help each year’s new crop of GHS grads as well as those GHS grads from earlier years who are still working to earn their college degrees. In partnership with the Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), GEF offers a joint scholarship program for GHS graduates attending CPCC. GEF also collaborates with UNC-Charlotte and Road to Hire (R2H) to create cost-of-attendance financial packages for deserving GHS grads who participate in the R2H Pathways program in high school and are accepted at UNC-Charlotte.

Garinger Education Foundation/Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Joint Scholarship Program

In partnership with CPCC, GEF offers a joint scholarship program for GHS graduates. Any student who graduates from GHS and attends CPCC is eligible to receive this scholarship if they meet the requirements. GHS graduates who 1) have completed a minimum of 6 hours at CPCC, 2) are registered for a minimum of 6 hours for the next semester, and 3) have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 automatically qualify for $250/semester from GEF. If their cumulative GPA is 2.5 or higher, the CPCC Foundation matches the GEF contribution for another $250/semester. This collaborative GEF/CPCC program starts many GHS graduates down the path to an affordable, excellent college education.

Garinger Education Foundation Wildcat Transfer Scholarships

Some GHS graduates attending CPCC take the next step up the educational ladder to earn a 4-year degree after earning an associate degree or professional certification or accruing reasonably priced credit toward their major. For these GHS graduates, GEF offers transfer scholarships of $1000/year for 2-3 years. The number of transfer scholarships offered each year may vary. Candidates should complete a GEF Wildcat Transfer Scholarship Application and have been accepted at a college in the University of North Carolina university system
